The banyan tree in the house was used as an informal coat is most often used on the shirt and pants. The banyan tree was usually paired with a soft cap, turban type that was used in place of formal wig, a very popular wig worn by men at the time of the ages 17 and 18. During the 18th century
was fashionable for men, particularly of an intellectual philosophical persuasion that their portraits on commission and to be painted, while using their banyan or negligees:

"
loose contribute to easy and vigorous exercise of the powers of the mind. This observation is so obvious and so generally known, that we find studious men are always painted in gowns, when they are sitting in their collections.

(Benjamin Rush, Founding Father of the United States. "Franklin and his friends', 2006)

Later, the banyan tree became more fitted
style with adjustable sleeves similar to the shield of a man. The banyan tree was made available in many different lengths and shapes with different cuts and styles. After the 19 th century, the name of "Bengal" has also evolved into the "beat" of today.
